S. M.The Heights·2+ weeks ago****Auto Burglary 11 cars in one night**** On February 21st between 1800 and 0600 hrs My 2004 Subaru WRX was Broken into. They shattered my front passenger window and got into my trunk and stole 2 Dji Drones and my tool pouch with over 1000.00 in Klein electrical tools and testing meters for which I use to make my living. I live in the Montage apartments a place I thought was pretty sweet from first impressions. The place seem to have it all gated community, rolling security at night, security cameras and a Palm Springs feel in the summer that makes you feel good about where you reside, so you can imagine how I felt when I learned my vehicle had been broken into?. First I was sick to my stomach, then I thought it through and came to terms with it, then plotting a plan to fix car, replace tools and move on. Sounds easy right? Let me tell you my nightmare just started, yesterday after I return home from work a man walks up to my car door and asks if my car got broken into and then quickly asks me if I was the one with drones that were taken and tools? I have to admit I just about jumped out and grabbed this guy because I’ve kept it quiet until that point and as I got out he said real quick I know who did this to you!.. I said what? He said it’s a young man in the complex and he’s selling your drones right now on offer up… I got my phone out and looked for drone’s on OfferUp and the very first drone I saw was mine. So you would think I can call the cops and it would be handled. Not so easy. The cops were busy. Anybody that knows me knows I’m gonna go ahead and take it in my own hands facilitate a plan, which I did. I messaged the seller and offered him full price. He replied back sounds great. I asked him when I can come by. He said 6 PM when I asked him where to meet him, he gave me my own address, but that’s not all he also gave his his phone number, no let’s go back to the guy that was at my car. It turns out his son had his car broken in the same night same M/O broken window, it turns out he had some high dollar basketball shoes, taken out of his car along with other other items his girlfriend sees them on OfferUp, and actually buys them back from this guy. at first I was like what the hell why would you pay ransom to get your shoes back? This young girl who I believe is one of the smartest and bravest young girls I’ve ever met because she was able to get her shoes back that she gifted her boyfriend and was willing to pay the money, but what she did is probably the most impressive thing for her age did. She was able to compile enough information that included Name, picture of the guy and information that a guy who thinks he’s going to score with a girl, but only in that moment. Wait for it because it doesn’t end yet. I set up the meeting at 6 o’clock. The Citrus Heights Police Department met with me at 5:45. I called the guy, but he never answered and I wasn’t really too upset until the officer told me that without video footage they couldn’t get them for breaking into my car. They couldn’t do anything as far as going to his place to arrest him or question him, we didn’t know what apartment he lived in exactly and the apartment managers we’re gone for the day and at the price the kid was selling my drones as of last night they no longer exist so without evidence there’s no case and 11 of us are stuck with added stress to our finances and it’ll probably take me another year or two before I’m able to afford these drones again. I got my commercial pilots license because flying drones isn’t just a hobbie, it was supplemental income and something I’m incredibly good at. That young man if you’re reading this, I want you to know I forgive you and I pray to God, you change your direction in life. You have no idea the impact you have on someone’s life when you take something so hard earned. Since 21 February, I have spent out of pocket More than $480 just for glass repair and another $1500 for two days of work I missed because I had to deal with my car. I would ask that you stop and think before you do this ever again. You took something from me that night, but today I’m taking it back and I’m not gonna worry about what I lost. I’m gonna keep moving forward and be the best version of me possible after all, you have to live with yourself and look at yourself in the mirror. Best of luck..206Like106

CITRUS HEIGHTS POLICE DEPARTMENT2+ weeks agoAgencyWhile on patrol, one of our newer officers who is still on field training, observed a suspect cutting a hole in a fence trying to gain access to the back of a closed business. The suspect was arrested at the scene. Great pro-active police work! #NotOnOurWatch #proactivepolicing104Like32

CITRUS HEIGHTS POLICE DEPARTMENT2+ weeks agoAgencyOn Tuesday, March 26th, officers responded to an armed robbery of a convenience store in the 6100 block of Greenback Lane. The suspect fled in a vehicle prior to police arrival. Using the information gathered at the scene, our grant funded Real Time Information Center (RTIC) operator was able to quickly identify the suspect through our existing cameras and other technological resources. The male suspect was identified as a 40-year-old North Highlands resident who was on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) for homicide. Clearly this was a dangerous person who needed to be apprehended. Yesterday, our IMPACT detectives tracked down the suspect and he was arrested without further incident. He is being held at the Sacramento main jail and our probation partners placed a “no-bail” PRCS violation while he awaits arraignment for our robbery charge. Another great example of teamwork between our initial responding officers, our RTIC operator, crime detection technology, probation department partners and our dedicated IMPACT team. #NotOnOurWatch88Like26
