What is the most common menu icon? ›

The hamburger menu could appear anywhere, with left and top bar being the most common then, and the right and bottom the most creative cases. But now it's a common way for users to navigate within a website. In fact, the hamburger menu is the most used of all navigation menus and can be found anywhere on the screen.

Finding the Quick Settings menu is simple: Drag your finger from the top of the screen downward. If your phone is unlocked, you'll see an abbreviated menu that you can use as-is or drag down once more to see an expanded tray with more options.

The hamburger button (the triple bar ≡ or trigram symbol ☰), so named for its unintentional resemblance to a hamburger, is a button typically placed in a top corner of a graphical user interface.

Menus are a common user interface component in many types of apps. To provide a familiar and consistent user experience, use the Menu APIs to present user actions and other options in your activities.

On keyboards including the key, its symbol would usually be a small icon depicting a pointer hovering above a menu; it would typically be found on the right side of the keyboard between the right Windows logo key and the right control key (or between the right AltGr key and the right control key).

If we compare the two menu positions, another research group called the Nielsen Norman Group found that putting the hamburger menu on the right side tends to be more comfortable and user-friendly, especially for right-handed folks.

The 'kebab' (three vertical dots), which originated in Google's Material Design languge, is designed to open a smaller inline menu from a button or other control.

Right-click on the Taskbar. Choose Taskbar settings. Turn off the toggle for Hidden icon menu. You should now see all icons populate right next to your clock in the system taskbar.

A static menu is the most widely used out of the menu categories. These menus are common because of their consistency, easy navigation, and options. Many successful restaurants are known for their consistent and dependable options, and a static menu helps communicate that message to customers.

Common desktop icons include Computer, your personal folder, Network, the Recycle Bin, Internet Explorer, and Control Panel.

Most menus are built to accommodate the standard paper sizes of 8.5” x 11”. If your menu exceeds 12” x 18”, consider having separate menus for wine, dessert, and kids in order to keep the size manageable. You don't want to overwhelm your guests.
