HERNANDO COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE2 days agoAgencyMedia Release Brooksville Sex Offender Arrested for Refusal to Provide Information - 202400130632 On 04-10-2024, Thomas Carleton White, a registered sex offender, responded to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office in order to report his new residential address as required by Florida State Statute. White stated that additional individuals, who resided at the same address, also owned vehicles but he did not want to give any information on those persons or vehicles. White stated he believed that asking for that information was a violation of his rights as well as the rights of the other individuals at that residence. On 04-18-2024, Detective Marcacci attempted contact with White at his residence on Pinewood Dairy Road and met with negative results, but did note there were vehicles at this address which had not been reported to law enforcement, which is also required by Florida State Statute. On 04-19-2024, White responded to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, in reference to the attempted law enforcement contact, and met with Detective Marcacci where he admitted to withholding the information, as he felt that this was a violation of his rights. Thomas Carleton White/DOB 03-20-1984 was placed under arrest without incident and charged as follows: •Failure to Comply with Sexual Offender Reporting Requirements White was then transported to the Hernando County Detention Center. Moloney Director of Public Relations, 352-797-3609 Re:Two Arrested for Felony Retail Theft – 2024-00134309 Date:April 16, 2024 On 04-15-24 just after noon, Hernando County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the Rural King, located at 2468 Commercial Way in Spring Hill, regarding a theft in progress. The caller reported two males actively stealing power tools from the store and provided a vehicle description of the car they were loading the tools into. As units were responding to the store, a unit in the area observed a vehicle, matching the description of the one provided, leaving the Rural King parking lot. Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle on Commercial Way. Upon speaking with the driver and passenger, both denied having any involvement in stealing power tools from Rural King. The driver and passenger were both cooperative with deputies and opened the trunk of the vehicle. Inside the trunk, deputies observed Milwaukee and Dewalt power tools, in unopened boxes. Both individuals told deputies they worked in construction and were attempting to return the tools. Deputies proceeded to Rural King to speak with staff and review surveillance footage. Surveillance footage confirmed the suspects (driver and passenger) did in fact steal the power tools from the store. The total value of the items stolen was $1,485.70. Both suspects, from Citrus County, were placed under arrest and charged as follows: Brandon Smith DOB/07-04-1986 -Felony Retail Theft -Bond – $2,000 Reshon Addison DOB/08-26-1994 -Felony Retail Theft -Bond – $2,000. Marcacci located an overdue registration for sexual offender, Douglas Allan Ross of Spring Hill, which was required to be completed in March 2024. On 04-16-2024, after an unsuccessful attempt to contact Ross at his residence, Detective Marcacci was able to locate and speak with Ross outside of a local retail store. During the interview, it was also discovered that Ross was in possession of a cell phone with a phone number which had not been previously registered to his sexual offender profile. Ross advised he was unaware he was required to register a new phone number as a part of his sex offender registration requirements. Douglas Allan Ross/DOB 09-06-1951 was placed under arrest without incident and charged as follows: •Failure to Comply with Sexual Offender Reporting Requirements •Failure to Report Phone Number Changes Ross was transported to the Hernando County Detention Center.
