RETALIATION. IN THE DAYS AFTER HASSAN EDWARDS DEATH, THERE WERE RUMBLINGS AND SUSPICIONS ABOUT WHO MIGHT HAVE BEEN RESPONSIBLE. WITNESSES AND FAMILY MEMBERS TOLD ALLEGHENY COUNTY POLICE DETECTIVES THEY THOUGHT THEY KNEW WHO PULLED THE TRIGGER AND WHY. THE INTERVIEWS DETECTIVES CONDUCTED INCLUDED ONE WITH EDWARDS MOM, WHO, ACCORDING TO THE CRIMINAL COMPLAINT, QUOTE, STATED SHE BELIEVED THIS WAS A RETALIATION SHOOTING FROM AN INCIDENT THAT OCCURRED IN THE SUMMER OF LAST YEAR. SHE DESCRIBED THE INCIDENT THAT OCCURRED IN THE HAZELWOOD AREA OF THE CITY OF PITTSBURGH, WHERE ONE OF HER OTHER SONS SHOT A MALE SHE KNEW AS SHOOTER IN THE LEG. THAT NICKNAME SHOOTER, APPARENTLY BELONGING TO 17 YEAR OLD DELVIN JOHNSON. DETECTIVES, LEARNING THAT ONE OF EDWARDS BROTHERS WAS ARRESTED AND LATER CONVICTED FOR SHOOTING JOHNSON IN THE LEG LAST JULY. FAST FORWARD TO APRIL 20TH. EDWARDS WAS HANGING OUT IN THE PARK WITH THREE OTHER PEOPLE, INCLUDING ONE OF HIS BROTHERS. THE COMPLAINT TELLS US THAT NEARBY RING CAMERA VIDEO CAPTURED THE MOMENTS BEFORE AND AFTER THE SHOOTING. THE MOST -- OF WHICH IS DELVIN JOHNSON, ALLEGEDLY SEEN RUNNING AWAY WHILE HOLDING A SEMI-AUTOMATIC HANDGUN. JOHNSON’S ARREST COMES NEARLY 24 HOURS AFTER ADMINISTRATORS AT STO-ROX HIGH SCHOOL HELD A VIGIL PAYING TRIBUTE TO EDWARDS AFFECTIONATE, KNOWN AS PEANUT. HE JUST HAD THIS PRESENCE ABOUT HIM THAT EVERYBODY, LIKE, CLUNG TO HIM LIKE HE JUST HAD THIS LIGHT THAT PEOPLE LOVED TO BE AROUND HIM.
